Rosemarie is a famous cultural anthropologist and European ethnologist who has organised an International Convention for Art historians entitled “Masks of the Lecce Palaces 1600-1800, the good and bad inside and outside us”. One workshop will consist in the analysis of the masks placed at the entrance of one of Lecce’s most prestigious palaces. Beyond the historic-architectonic dimension, Rosemarie wishes to help reveal the deepest reverberation that the mask metaphor plays on each participant.
Map in hand, the Lab session starts tomorrow morning, and is open to all those having the courage to understand the deepest sense of this ancient tradition.
Rosemarie will help you immerge in Baroque Lecce, enriched by specific beautifying by means of faces, curious, fearsome, intriguing and observing, masks which give the historical city centre a particular aspect, arousing emotions and curiosity, talking about beliefs that remain in the local memory until present days. A papier-mache professional will show you the mask art “outside” and, via a precious talisman, you will be able to perform the ancient tradition of letting go evil and make good enter inside you. A journey in the collective unconsciousness that will help you reach your deepest chords and a the end we will finish with a lucky toast.
Kids or children under 12 are welcomed only if accompanied by an adult.
