The Great Photographic Contest in the WWF Oasis of Alviano (Wild Nature in Umbria)

Elena will introduce you to the astonishingly beautiful WWF Oasis of Alviano to participate in a photographic contest, created purposefully for you and that will last all day long, letting you do a hunt (a photographic one) of some of the rarest animals and plants living in the Oasis. The biology experts that the Park will provide for you, will introduce you to the peculiar natural chracteristics of the place, while Elena will have the pleasure to guide you into the basics of nature photography in ambush. You could participate in the competition alone or in a group. The classic final, in categories, will consider the points gathered during the execution of the assigned mission, apart from, obviously, the effective quality of the photos to be taken.

The tunic of Faroaldo II (Medieval history and local traditions in Umbria)

Veronica, in the shoes of a PhD Doctoral student in Medieval Art, will introduce you to the origins of the Abbey of Saint Peter, a very famous Lombard abbey in Umbria, which conserves the breathtakingly beautiful Bear Plate, Lastra di Orso, and the most important pre-Giotto frescoes cycle in Umbria. You will enhance your knowledge on Valnerina’s traditions and, in particular, of Sant’ Anatolia di Narco, picturesque Umbrian village, famous for the “Canapine” (hemp fields). In this very village exists the particular and curious Museo della Canapa (Hemp Museum), which testifies how hemp processing, in use from early Middle ages onwards, was a full ‘right’ of this territory. You could listen to the story of Faroaldo II, narrated by local people, understanding and vividly experimenting how hemp was processed, learning how to weave on an ancient loom of those times and, in the end , will round up the venture with tasting typical local products.
